LAKEPORT, Calif. – Konocti Senior Support Inc. needs the community's help to keep its Friendly Visitor Program going.
They need more referrals, specifically, home bound seniors and volunteers to help them. If you are a home bound senior, they will do their utmost to match you with a volunteer that is right for you.
Please contact them directly or send them the contact information for the person you feel might benefit from the free Friendly Visitor Program.
Are you a senior 55+ with a lifetime of experience to share, would you like to give back to other seniors?
The Friendly Visitors Program is accepting applications for this enriching opportunity to become a Friendly Visitor volunteer.
They will prepare you to enjoy this time with your clients. Volunteers will share their experiences with other inspirational volunteers, engage in lively discussions, and receive training from the program director as needed or requested.
As a volunteer, you will spend one hour a week with a client that the organization feels is compatible with you. When you visit your client, you can do projects, play games or just chat.
If you are so inclined, as a volunteer, you are entitled to sit in with the Senior Peer Counseling group for their free training facilitated by licensed psychotherapist Kim Baughan Young MFT, clinical consultant.
Her training includes experiential interacting, movie clips, and a lively group discussion on Tuesdays at 11 a.m.
