LAKEPORT, Calif. – During the Lake County Fair, many people seeking information regarding boating safety, new boating laws and other concerns visited the booth of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 88 of Lake County.
Visitors to the booth could spin a colorful wheel, answer the question on the wheel and win a prize.
Several expressed interest in signing up for Boating Safety classes and, also, many wished to learn more about the Flotilla after seeing the Flotilla Patrol boats out on Clear Lake assisting boaters.
From Jan. 1 through Aug. 21, Flotilla 88 has assisted 14 boaters, inspected and passed 64 private vessels, made 40 visits to marine dealers providing information brochures and other boating safety materials.
Overall, members of the Flotilla have contributed more than 2,000 volunteer hours which include administrative hours at the U.S. Coast Guard Island in Alameda.
