LAKEPORT, Calif. – The city of Lakeport will be full of pirates on Saturday, Sept. 21, when Shipwreck Day takes place in Library Park.
From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. there will be a variety of pirate-themed activities, including knot-tying, flag painting and a Pirate School.
The bigger pirates will have a chance to “Sink the Ship” with water balloons. Vendors and food will be set up in the park.
People of all ages are encouraged to dress like a pirate and participate in the Pirate Parade down Main Street, starting at 1:30 p.m.
A costume contest will be held, with prizes for the winner. Downtown restaurants and saloons will offer their own unique “Green Season Grog” to celebrate the pirate theme. Adults may vote for their favorite grog.
Music for Shipwreck Day will be provided by My Divas strolling minstrel group. Then, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., the Hip Replacements will play live music for dancing in the park.
There is no charge to attend Shipwreck Day on Sept. 21. The event is sponsored by the Lakeport Main Street Association.
