LAKEPORT, Calif. – The winners of the Lakeport Lighted Holiday Decorating Contest were announced Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the Lakeport City Council meeting.
Barbara Breunig, president of Lakeport Main Street Association, handed out the awards.
The event was sponsored by the city of Lakeport, Lakeport Main Street Association and the Lake County Chamber of Commerce.
In the residential category:
- First place and $200 went to Lonnie Griffin and Janice Mills for their home, located on N. Brush Street.
- Second place and $100 went to the Hansens for their home, located on 20th Street.
- Third place and $50 went to Matthew Harrell for his home on Page Street.
In the business category:
- First place and $200 went to Pieces Boutique, located at 155 N. Main St.
- Second place and $100 went to Rocky Point Care Center, located at 625 16th St.
- Third place and $50 went to Sanducci’s Cottage restaurant, located at 1090 N. Main St.
The event sponsors thanked all of the residents and businesses who participated this year. It was a close competition and their hard work and planning showed in each and every lighting display.
The city, association and chamber also extended a special thank you to the judges who gave of their time and attention to judge this year’s competition. It was a difficult task we know, so the sponsors offered their thanks for this service to the communitywide event.
It also was stated that there were many other competition-worthy displays out there in the city of Lakeport that should have been in the competition. It's hoped that next year more community members will join this annual event.
