CLEARLAKE, Calif. – The Lake County Rockhounds club will meet on Wednesday, May 7.
The group will meet at 5 p.m. at Redbud Library, 14785 Burns valley Road in Clearlake.
Dr. John Parker will give a presentation on the evidence found showing Chinese-Pomo interactions in the area of the Sulphur Bank Mine.
Archaeological work conducted on the reservation just north of Sulphur Bank Mine uncovered the remains of historic house locations dating to 1900 and earlier.
Dr. Parker recovered artifacts and soil samples from these locations giving evidence that California Chinese Pioneers lived in this area and interacted with the Pomos.
Visitors are welcome.
For those interested in joining the club, annual membership costs $15.
