Lake County Wine Studio to host May 9 Local Cuisine Scene

UPPER LAKE, Calif. – Shannon Michele of Cache Creek Catering and Lake County Wine Studio are presenting a monthly food and wine series featuring gourmet appetizers paired with select Lake County wines.

Locally produced foods are proudly featured as key ingredients in recipes created by Cache Creek Catering.

The series is held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on the second Friday of each month.

The per person cost is $30 and $25 for Wine Studio club members. Reservations are required.

May 9 will feature Sangioveses and a Tuscan-inspired menu.

The first course will be arugula, shaved parmesan and bread crumb stuffed artichoke paired with Rosa D'Oro 2010 vintage, followed by a cheese tortellini with fennel sausage and sundried tomatoes paired with Rosa D'Oro 2011 vintage.  

The dessert course will be a cocoa nib biscotti with dried cherries and toasted pistachios paired with Laujor Estate 2012 vintage.

The April 11 event featured an opening salad course of arugula, strawberry, toasted almonds and chévre salad paired with Gregory Graham Grenache, followed by lamb meatballs with cranberry-shallot pan sauce paired with the new Merlot from Thorn Hill.  

The dessert course was Lemon cupcakes with a lemon and rosemary glaze topped with whipped cream paired with Fore Family Vineyards Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc.

June 13 will be the next date to follow for the Local Cuisine Scene event with wines that pair well with barbecue grilled foods.
