Lewis takes second place at North Coast Classic; Cardinal girls wrestle in Vallejo

EUREKA, Calif. – On Saturday, Jan. 24, Clear Lake Cardinal boy wrestlers headed north to compete at the North Coast Classic Wrestling Tournament in Eureka.

Julian Lewis (3-1 on the day) pinned his way to the 220 pound finals.

During the finals championship match, he lost a close battle 3-1 to a nonsection wrestler to take home the silver medal.

Mark Estrada (120 pounds), Issac Lewis (152 pounds) and Tyler Buchholz (160 pounds) each went 1-2 on the day.

Also wrestling in the tournament was Jacob Caldwell, 145 pounds, and Dillon Williams, 170 pounds.

Also on Saturday, Cardinal girl wrestlers headed south to The Julie Gonzalez Invitational Wrestling Tournament in Vallejo.

Emily Psalmonds (2-2 on the day) placed third at 111 pounds in a round robin bracket, with her only losses coming against nonsection wrestlers.

Also wrestling in the tournament was Mariela Soto at 101 pounds.
