LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Soroptimist International of Clear Lake invites you to become acquainted with the local organization.
This local club has been in existence for 50 years. Soroptimist mean “best for women” and is a local, national and international organization whose main purpose is to help women and girls.
Membership is open to women who are working, retired, unemployed or embarking on a new career.
The local nonprofit club has provided mammograms for women without insurance, $4,000 annual monetary awards for head of household women continuing their education (Live Your Dream awards), funding for Sponsoring Survivorship (breast cancer), Dr. Dhanda and Worldwide Healing Hands and Lower Lake High School's Clothes Closet.

The club's newest project is a partnership with the NEST, a local long-term residential program for homeless pregnant and parenting youth ages 18 to 21.
The youth in the NEST program receive life skills training, parenting education, community mentors, and are encouraged to participate in service learning programs.
Another project for Soroptimist International of Clear Lake in the planning stages for girls in Lake County is a leadership conference in Spring 2016.
Soroptimist meetings are held twice monthly at Howard's Grotto in Clearlake at noon, with a business meeting on the second Thursday of each month and a program meeting with a speaker on the fourth Thursday of each month.
