LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – The local Emergency Food and Shelter Program is seeking talented and conscientious volunteer board members.
The Emergency Food and Shelter Program, EFSP, is a supplemental program authorized under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act designed to support homeless individuals and their access to services.
The Emergency Food and Shelter Program is a DHS/FEMA supported program.
In 2015, more than $40,000 was awarded to seven different organizations in Lake County to help support the needs of homeless individuals.
EFSP is governed by a national board and local boards are convened to help select and guide organizations that receive funding.
Each year, local boards are tasked with assessing needs in an effort to respond to changes in the community.
The local board meets quarterly and on an as-needed basis in Lakeport.
