LAKEPORT, Calif. – Imagine that you are a teenaged girl, just won a Miss America preliminary pageant, and you have money to purchase a stunning formal dress.
The only questions is, do you go shopping right now or right now?
Hanna Scully is extraordinary. She won the Miss Lake County Outstanding Teen title and with the title came with an award check for a new dress to wear to the Miss California Pageant.
Instead of going dress shopping, Hanna has chosen to wear a dress she already has in her closet and help homeless dogs at the Orphan Dog Ranch with her dress money.
When asked why she chose to give her money to the dogs, she answered, “I love dogs. Ever since I was little, our family has had dogs. I just want to help other dogs that don’t have families.”
“Orphan Dog Ranch is honored to be chosen to receive this donation of $450. Each and every penny will go toward care of the puppies and dogs,” said Karen Schaver, executive director. “Hanna’s generosity is refreshing.”
Orphan Dog, an all-volunteer non-profit, homes 250 to 300 dogs a year while traveling an average of 900 miles per month to the North Bay Area.
They participate in weekly adoption events at the Pet Food Express Stores and in 2016, Orphan Dog will home its 3,000th dog.
Scully will be participating in the Miss California Pageant which starts the week of June 28, 2016. Please feel free to support her in Fresno and send your well wishes for her success.
