SUTTER, Calif. – On Saturday, March 19, the Terrace Vikings attended the largest and one of the toughest tournaments on their season schedule.

The Twin Cities Invitational Wrestling Tournament took six mats and two gyms to handle the large number of wrestlers in attendance.

The Vikings sent 14 wrestlers – five boys and nine girls – to compete and won nine total medals – three firsts, one second, two thirds and three fifths.

In the seventh and eighth grade varsity brackets, gold medalist were Mavis Pyorre and Sterling Wong.

Mavis wrestled up at 105 pounds, finishing at 3-0 with three pins (Mavis says thank you Kodie Rowan for the 6 a.m. Bootcamps strength and conditioning training at Quail Run). Sterling went 2-0 at 190 pounds with two pins.

Frank Weiler (190 pounds) won the silver medal with one pin. Ashley Vasquez and Deila Shirley each won fifth place medals with one pin.
