Lake County Wine Studio to host win release party, art reception July 7 and 8

UPPER LAKE, Calif. – Lake County Wine Studio is hosting a wine release party and artist show reception with Dustin Fults of Fults Family Vineyards and artist Dayle Marshall on Friday, July 7, and Saturday, July 8.

The reception will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. July 7 and 4 to 7 p.m. July 8.

The $15 per person ($12.50/per person for studio club members) wine sampler featuring appetizers by the Saw Shop Bistro, will showcase Fults Family 2014 Blanc de Blanc sparkling Chardonnay paired with a Fuji apple salad with mixed greens, dried cherries, walnuts and a house-made vinaigrette, 2016 Sauvignon Blanc paired to chicken Alfredo with Pecorino, 2014 Wildfire Red Blend with Wildfire onion spread on crostini with slow roasted prime rib, and the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon with a blackberry cobbler topped with whipped cream.

Lying on the banks of Clayton Creek not far from Lower Lake, Fults Family Vineyards was founded in 2001 on the site of a 150 year old ranch and former stagecoach stop.

What started out as a hobby producing small amounts of wine for and with family and friends, grew into a passion for producing great wine.

By 2006, the family decided to turn grape growing and wine making into a real business, and they opened their tasting room (open on weekends) in 2014.

The vineyards are planted with Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat Canelli, Grenache, Sangiovese, Petite Verdot, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah.

Dayle Marshall is a California native, born and raised in Los Angeles county. Her first official job was soldering printed circuit boards at Continental Devices Corp. in El Segundo in 1962.

It was in that factory that she entered her engraving trade. She went from there to an engraving company and began learning the different aspects of the marking industry, i.e. engraving, silk screening, stenciling and stamping.

In 1976 Marshall opened her own engraving business and now has the distinction of being the only woman in her field who has continuously owned and operated her own company for more than 30 years.

Throughout those years, she was commissioned to do engraving projects for the New York subway, the space shuttles, movie props and various jobs for celebrities and film companies, which included custom camera lens engraving and cinematography equipment for long standing customers in Los Angeles.

In 2014 Marshall was the first artist to exhibit at the Twin Pine Casino as part of their art and wine tasting event, and also that year she was the exhibiting artist for the month of February at the Lake County Wine Studio.

Marshall's artwork is considered mixed media, as she runs the gamut using such substrates as canvas, wood, Masonite, plastic, paper and stone. She also uses watercolors, acrylics, pastels and guilders pastes along with her laser engraving equipment to create unique artistic offerings.

The opening of 2 Women Traders in Middletown with her partner in 2011 has given her an avenue to display and sell some of her artworks.

Lake County Wine Studio is a gallery for display of arts and a tasting room, wine bar and retail shop for the fine wines of Lake County. Artist's shows are held on a monthly basis with art and wine receptions held the first Friday and subsequent Saturday of each month.

The gallery is located at 9505 Main St. in Upper Lake. It is open Monday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 7 p.m., Friday from 1 to 8 p.m., and by appointment on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The Marshall art show will be on display for the full month of July.
