Public safety officers visited by Thompson, McGuire at annual campout

LAKEPORT, Calif. – Local law enforcement took part in the third annual Public Safety BBQ and Campout at Highland Springs Reservoir this past weekend and were visited by a member of Congress and a state senator.

On Saturday night, Congressman Mike Thompson joined Sheriff Brian Martin to barbecue dinner for members of the Lake County Peace Officers Association, including sheriff’s deputies, California Highway Patrol officers, and police officers from Lakeport and Clearlake.

State Sen. Mike McGuire also stopped in to say hello and speak to the group.

For the past year, Thompson has been doing barbecues for police and sheriff departments in the Fifth Congressional District.

In addition to helping with barbecue duties on Saturday, he also donated $1,000 to cover the cost of the food.

Thompson thanked the peace officers and their families for the service they give Lake County’s residents, telling them he was proud of all of them.
