MENDOCINO NATIONAL FOREST, Calif. – Smokey Bear turns 73 this year and the community is invited to celebrate his birthday at the Mendocino National Forest on Tuesday, Aug. 9.

The event will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Forest Supervisor’s Office is located at 825 N. Humboldt Ave., Willows.

There will be coloring, cupcakes, balloons and, of course, the guest of honor, Smokey Bear.
