UPPER LAKE, Calif. – Sherry Treppa, tribal chair and members of the Habematolel Pomo of Upper Lake Executive Council and administrative staff met with Jim Steele, District 3 county supervisor, this past week to announce the open house for their new tribal offices in Upper Lake and their contribution to the “Kiss My Clear Lake Bass” contest.
The public is invited to attend the open house on Saturday, Sept. 23, at 1 p.m. to share refreshments and tour the facility located at 9470 Main St. in Upper Lake.
“We have completely transformed the former Westamerica Bank building, adding offices on both floors,” said Tribal Administrator Anthony Arroyo. “The new site is now home to our administration, housing, transportation and environmental protection programs. The vault, a unique feature of the building, will be used to store our historical documents and there’s a nice open area for greeting visitors.”
“We are very pleased with the way everything turned out and we are looking forward to hosting the open house for the community,” Treppa added.
“I was honored to get an early tour of the new offices and receive the happy news about the donation to the ‘Kiss My Clear Lake Bass’ contest,” Supervisor Steele said.
He added, “I entered the contest in hopes of kick-starting the Lake County Silver Foundation, a nonprofit that will raise funds to support senior centers and related programs. The situation for our seniors and elders grows more and more dire with each passing day. There simply isn’t enough government funding, so the Silver Foundation intends to help fill the gap.”
“When we realized that Supervisor Steele would donate his contest winnings to support Lake County seniors and elders we were pleased to offer our support,” said Treppa. “Our tribe believes in showing honor and respect to those that paved the way for the younger generation, views I know are compatible with Supervisor Steele’s vision for the Silver Foundation.”
Treppa and Steele look forward to visiting with community members at the open house in September.
