Red Cross plans volunteer recruitment fair Sept. 6

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Red Cross will host a volunteer recruitment fair in Lakeport on Wednesday, Sept. 6.

The fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lakeport Fire Department, 445 North Main St.

Red Cross volunteers are trained to meet the needs of those affected by disasters, providing food, shelter and comfort for families affected by major disasters such as fires, floods, and earthquakes.

They also are trained to help the community to be prepared for the next disaster.

Volunteers constitute about 90 percent of the total Red Cross workforce to carry out its humanitarian work. Red Cross volunteers bring help and hope to people in need.

This volunteer recruitment fair includes an orientation, the volunteer application and a disaster services overview. Lunch will be provided.
