LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Clear Lake Junior Horsemen group will host its first meeting of the season on the Monday, Sept. 25.
The meeting will be held at the Junior Horsemen’s Building at the Lake County Fairgrounds, 401 Martin St., at 6:30 p.m.
The club is for children who just want to ride their horse every chance they get.
Members have a general meeting on the third Monday of every month and are planning to meet on the first Saturday of the month just to play or go for a trail ride.
On the first Saturday in October they will bring their horses along on their annual campout at Cowboy Camp on Highway 16 in the Cache Creek Wilderness Area.
Members bring their horses to meetings each month and learn about horsemanship skills and safety.
They also learn and practice drill routines and perform at the Lake County Rodeo and Lake County Fair.
Right now they are creating a “noise” CD (sirens, horns, loud engines, shouting people) that they can use to help desensitize their horses.
Group members also will be spending time with their horses downtown so that they might get accustomed to traffic and be able to ride in local parades.
Please join them if these sound like activities that you would like to participate in.
For more information call Helen at 707-972-1807.
Editor's note: This meeting originally was scheduled for Sept. 18 but was rescheduled due to a conflict with the back to school night activities at Kelseyville High School.
