LAKEPORT, Calif. – Susanna Janssen loves language and life, a fact well known to her students and her readers.

The public is invited to meet Janssen and hear her reflections on life and language as she introduces her award-winning book, “Wordstruck: The fun and fascination of language” on Saturday, Sept. 23, at 2 p.m. at the Lakeport branch of Lake County Library, located at 1425 N. High St.

The program is free.

Copies of the book will be available to buy at the program.

“Wordstruck” is a compilation of Janssen’s columns published in the Ukiah Daily Journal, “A Word in Edgewise.”

Part memoir, part an exploration of language and culture, “Wordstruck” is an entertaining look at Janssen’s world.

Janssen has taught foreign language at Mendocino College.

In “Wordstruck” she recounts her adventures as she moved from Sacramento to Mendocino County and became a professor in the small town of Ukiah.

Light refreshments will be served. For more information about the class please call 707-263-8817.
