Plaskett fire starts southeast of Covelo

MENDOCINO NATIONAL FOREST, Calif. – A rapid response by firefighters and aircraft has kept the Plaskett fire to approximately six acres on the Covelo Ranger District of the Mendocino National Forest.

The fire started Monday morning and is located about 20 miles southeast of Covelo.

Gusty winds and low humidity are a concern as fire personnel work to contain the fire.

A red flag warning remains in effect for the area.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
