SNAP benefits to be replaced for residents in Sulphur fire area

LOWER LAKE, Calif. – Sulphur fire-area residents who qualify for receive assistance from the CalFresh Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will be getting a replacement of a portion of their benefits.

The Lake County Department of Social Services will be automatically replacing 60 percent of CalFresh Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, benefits issued on or before Oct. 10 for current CalFresh recipients who lived in zip codes 95424, 95458 or 95443 on Oct. 1, and who have not already had benefits replaced.

Benefits will be on recipients’ cards beginning on Oct. 17.

CalFresh beneficiaries living in other Lake County zip codes that lost food due to fire destruction or power outage not included in this mass replacement can still apply for replacement benefits on a case-by-case basis by contacting Lake County Social Services at www.dss.co.lake.ca.us, telephone 707-995-4200 or visit the office at 15975 Anderson Ranch Parkway in Lower Lake Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
