Red Cross Sulphur Fire Client Service Center opens Oct. 21

CLEARLAKE, Calif. – The American Red Cross will open a client service center for residents impacted by the Sulphur fire on Saturday, Oct. 21, at the Highlands Senior Service Center, 3245 Bowers Ave. in Clearlake, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The center will continue on Sunday and Monday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

They will provide wildfire recovery kits, hygiene items, clean up items, recovery assistance, referrals for recovery services and financial assistance to qualified residents.

Please bring proof of pre-disaster address such as a utility bill, electric bill, etc.

As families return to their homes and begin the cleanup, Red Cross volunteers will be handing out cleaning, hygiene and comfort items in hardest-hit neighborhoods devastated by the Sulphur fire.

These items include water, snacks, and cleanup items such as gloves, buckets, trash bags and dust masks.

Five Red Cross vehicles will be driving through the impacted neighborhoods distributing these items.

In addition, a Red Cross vehicle will be traveling through the impacted neighborhoods providing meals, and one will be stationed at the Local Assistance Center at Highlands Senior Center through the weekend.

Red Cross vehicles will be operating in neighborhoods Saturday, Oct. 21, and Sunday, Oct. 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Red Cross honors donor intent. Donors can designate their donation to relief efforts for the California wildfires by choosing that option when donating on redcross.org or on 1-800-RED CROSS, or by texting the word CAWILDFIRES to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
