LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – As the Soroptimists have done for eight years, they are currently making blanket throws for Totes for Teens to distribute to foster children this Thanksgiving.
Cutting and fringing more than 100 blankets by hand, the Soroptimists put a lot of love into these gifts and know the children who get them feel both the snuggly fabric and the caring that goes with this “bit of warmth” they receive through the Totes For Teens organization.
Soroptimist International of Clear Lake is a volunteer organization dedicated to helping our community.
The group supports projects like “Dream It, Be It,” providing career support to girls in secondary school who face obstacles to their future success; Tule House Residential program to support mothers struggling with addiction to drugs, providing treatment and a safe place for their children to flourish; Stop Human Trafficking awareness and training programs; The Nest, a local maternity group home that improves the lives of at-risk parents, ages 18 to 21, and their children.
Visit the group on Facebook at Soroptimist International of Clear Lake to keep informed of, and donate to, its projects and to join members as they work to support the ongoing mission of improving the lives of women and girls locally and internationally.
