LAKEPORT, Calif. – Thrive Lake County will hold its first “living room conversation” on Thursday, Dec. 7.

The discussion will take place from 4:15 to 5:45 p.m. at Round Table Pizza, 811 11th St. in Lakeport.

In the living room conversations, a small group of people come together to get to know one another in a more meaningful way.

Guided by a simple and sociable format, participants practice being open and curious about all perspectives, with a focus on learning from one another, rather than trying to debate the topic at hand.

The first conversation focuses on the topic, "The America we want to be.”

The group invites people on both sides of the aisle who are open to civility and communication, and who truly want to listen to what their friends and neighbors believe in that may be different from their own particular point of view.

There's no charge for this event, though it would be courteous if each attendee order an item off the menu.
