South Lake County ‘Candy Cane Run’ returns; first run set for Dec. 8

SOUTH LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – The South Lake County Firefighters Association, in partnership with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Santa Claus, will once again host the Christmas “Candy Cane Run” this holiday season.

Three separate runs are scheduled for Friday, Dec. 8, in Middletown; Friday, Dec. 15, in Cobb; and Saturday, Dec. 16, in Hidden Valley Lake.

Santa, Mrs. Claus and their entourage of firefighters and deputies will leave the fire stations in those areas at around 6 p.m., after dark, to begin their visits in the communities.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on a decorated flat bed utility, with engines and ambulances following, handing out candy canes and playing Christmas music.

The Middletown run on Dec. 8 will visit Santa Clara, Central Park to Valley Oak, Pine Street, Brennen, Stewart, Douglas, Jackson and Wardlaw, with stops at the Middletown Library and senior center, and the Middletown Garden apartments. Rain will delay the run until Monday, Dec. 18.

On Dec. 15, the Cobb run will wind its way from Loch Lomond and Highway 175 to Lema Lane and Lema Court, Venturi and Elliott, Venturi and Pamela Drive, Fox and Regina, Upper Fox, St. Helena, Hoberg’s Loop, Pine Summit Pool, Estates Drive and Meadow, Golf Road, Gifford Springs and Starview Loop, with a stop at Black Rock Golf Course. Rain will delay the run until Tuesday, Dec. 19.

On Dec. 16, the Hidden Valley Lake run will cover areas including Mt. Meadow North, Mt. Meadow South, Spyglass, Hidden Valley Road to Deer Hill, Greenridge/Buckhorn, Greenridge to Stonegate and North Shore from the main gate, with stops at Raven Hill Park and Marine View. Rain will delay that run until Wednesday, Dec. 20.
