SACRAMENTO – The CAHP Credit Union has established a memorial fund in honor of fallen CHP Officer Andrew Camilleri Sr.
One hundred percent of all donations received will go directly to Officer Camilleri’s family.
The CAHP Credit Union is covering all processing fees and administrative responsibilities.
On Dec. 24, at approximately 11:32 p.m., a member of the CHP - Golden Gate Division, Hayward Area Office, Officer Andrew Camilleri Sr., gave his life in sacrifice for the community in which he served.
Officer Camilleri and Officer Jonathan Velasquez were stopped in their patrol vehicle within the reverse gore of the Winton Avenue onramp to I-880 southbound. An errant driver drifted off the road and struck the right rear of the patrol vehicle. Both officers suffered injuries in the collision.
Officer Camilleri was transported to St. Rose Hospital where he was pounced deceased.
Officer Camilleri, 33, began his career with the California Highway Patrol on Aug. 27, 2016. He is survived by his wife, daughter, sons, parents, brother, and sister. We offer our thoughts and prayers to his family, friends, and colleagues as we collectively mourn this heartbreaking tragedy.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Officer Camilleri,” said Brad Houle, CAHP Credit Union president. “Officer Camilleri will be greatly missed by his young family, peers, and the community he served.”
