NORTH COAST, Calif. – The Mendocino Coast Writers’ Conference, or MCWC, is offering several scholarships to make its 2018 event, Aug. 2 to 4, accessible to writers from diverse backgrounds – and to reward writing of outstanding merit.

Scholarship applications open on Jan. 1 and close on Feb. 15.

Please visit www.mcwc.org to learn more about the conference and the scholarships on offer.

During this period you may also apply for the MCWC 2018 Master Class, The Art of Fiction. This juried-in workshop, restricted to only 12 participants, will be taught by National Book Award nominee Elizabeth McKenzie.

MCWC is a vibrant writers’ conference located on the beautiful Mendocino coast.

Morning workshops are offered in a wide range of genres relevant to many experience levels. Afternoons are packed with craft seminars, one-on-one consultations, open mic readings, and more. Evenings are full of community and camaraderie.

An add-on or stand-alone publishing bootcamp, taught by industry-leader Jane Friedman, will be offered the day after the main conference.

The 2018 faculty will include: Elizabeth McKenzie (National Book Award nominee), Indigo Moor (Sacramento Poet Laureate), Linda Joy Myers (president of the National Association of Memoir Writers), Vanessa Hua (California Book Award finalist), and Nina Sadowsky (screenwriter, novelist, and producer of The House of Sand and Fog and The Wedding Planner).

The keynote address will be given by Elizabeth Rosner, acclaimed author of Survivor Café.
