Radio show to feature candidate for lieutenant governor

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Candidate for the California’s lieutenant governor’s race, progressive Gayle McLaughlin will be a special guest on Lake County Community Radio’s “Citizen Lake.”

The program can be heard on KPFZ, 88.1 FM, on Saturday, Jan. 13, from 9 to 10 a.m.

McLaughlin has made worldwide headlines when she, as mayor, led her Richmond community in their fight for justice.

This included increasing minimum wage, fight for better jobs, better public education and better care for the environment.

She initiated a lawsuit against Chevron for damage to the local population and forced Chevron to pay an additional $7.5 million per year in taxes.

Supporting Richmond Community Action to Restore Equity and Stability, or CARES, McLaughlin endorsed foreclosure prevention, and a Community Choice program leading to cheaper and greener energy. Under her leadership homicides were reduced 75 percent in eight years.

Her strength in fighting against the corruption of money in politics has earned her the epithet “The Bernie Sanders of the Bay Area”. Endorsed by Our Revolution chapters throughout the country, she has proven her commitment to the principles of Sanders affiliates.

The public will have a chance to ask questions and listen to a woman whose accomplishments are outstanding and invigorating. With the upcoming Jan. 20 Women’s Marches, Gayle McLaughlin represents the substantial power of women.
