Final list of ‘Stars’ nominees released; award ceremony takes place Feb. 17

LAKEPORT, Calif. – On Feb. 17, the Lake County Chamber of Commerce presents the 20th annual Stars of Lake County Community Awards program at the Soper Reese Theater.

Since 1998 the chamber has had the privilege of acknowledging more than 1,800 individuals, organizations and businesses throughout Lake County under the Stars program.

To date almost 400 Recipients have been awarded the prestigious “Star Award,” all of them listed at www.lakecochamber.com .

A unique aspect of Stars is finding out about people whose community contributions would never be known without this county-wide awards event.

This year there are 65 nominees from around Lake County.

Each nominee has been sent a letter from the chamber alerting them they have been nominated and requesting a photo for the video that is played during the reception.

Every nominee receives one free ticket for Stars. Nominees and one guest will be seated in the front sections of the theater. Additional guests of nominees and the general public are seated in the loge sections of the theater.

The Selection Committee in 2018 is comprised of individuals from communities around the county. These individuals know their communities and met on Feb. 1, spending almost five hours discussing and voting on the recipients who will receive their Star Awards at the Soper Reese Theater on Feb. 17.

The reception begins at 5 p.m. with substantial appetizers by Lake Event Design and a no host bar by the Chamber.

Tickets for Stars are $20/person. Every nominee receives one free ticket. Contact the Lake County Chamber at 707-263-5092 for tickets as all seats are reserved, there is no open seating.

The chamber anticipates selling all tickets prior to the event date, so there will be no tickets available on the date of the ceremony, said Chamber President Joe Casteel.
