Caltrans employees use car show to raise money for charity

SACRAMENTO – In an effort to raise money for charity, Caltrans employees donated their time and money to hold a car show.

In this Caltrans News Flash, our Division of Equipment employees, who work every day on fleet automobiles and equipment, channeled their passion refurbishing old cars into restored classics.

The car show, in its second year, raised $2,660, more than double the amount raised the year before.

All proceeds were donated to the American Heart and Stroke Association.

The show was open to all state employees willing to use their own time off to participate. Employees from Caltrans, Department of General Services, Department of Motor Vehicles, and Cal Fire participated, with 62 vehicles on display.

Caltrans’ Division of Equipment purchases, fabricates, maintains, and repairs fleet equipment for Caltrans.

The fleet is comprised of more than 12,000 pieces of equipment including heavy trucks, snow blowers and light utility vehicles.

The division has approximately 730 professionals, including more than 400 heavy equipment mechanics around the state who maintain and repair equipment, and a headquarters staff located in Sacramento.
