
KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – On Saturday, Feb. 10, the members of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 8-8 of Lake County met for its annual change of watch ceremony at the Konocti Bay Sailing Club facility located at Braito's Marina in Kelseyville.
This ceremony commemorates the changing of the flotilla commander and its staff officers for the year of 2018.
Officiating at the ceremony were Division Commander Carl Pierce and Division Vice Commander Wayne Pero both, from Flotilla 839 in Redding.
Giving the oath of office was Roberto Morfin as flotilla commander and Kevin Curry as vice flotilla commander.
The appointed staff officers were also given the oath of office for their respective offices.
Morfin is serving his second year as Flotilla 8-8 commander. As part of the ceremony Morfin and Vice Flotilla Commander Gary Jolley presented the newly elect Vice Flotilla Commander Curry with his official shoulder boards.
The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary consists of more than 30,000 volunteer members throughout our country who provide operations support to the United States Coast Guard and are dedicated to promoting recreational boating safety.
