Soroptimists win Spirit of Lake County Award

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Soroptimist International of Clear Lake won the 2018 Stars of Lake County Spirit of Lake County award last weekend.

John Tomkins and Congressman Mike Thompson presented this prestigious award to Soroptimist President Brenda Crandall at the Lake County Chamber of Commerce Star Awards gala event on Saturday, Feb. 17, held at the Soper Reese Theatre in Lakeport.

This award is given by the selection committee for a nomination that best depicts the Spirit of Lake County from all of the other nominations submitted in every category.

Soroptimist International of Clear Lake is a volunteer organization dedicated to helping our community.

The group supports projects like Dream It * Be It providing career support to girls in secondary school who face obstacles to their future success; Tule House Residential program to support mothers struggling with addiction to drugs, providing treatment and a safe place for their children to flourish; Stop Human Trafficking awareness and training programs; The Nest, a local maternity group home that improves the lives of at risk parents, ages 18 - 21, and their children.
