LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lakeport Police Officers Association announced that they have endorsed Steve Brown for Lake County district attorney.

“Lakeport Police Officers are pleased to support Steve Brown for district attorney,” said Police Association President Tyler Trouette. “Steve is committed to protecting public safety and is the best qualified candidate to provide leadership and management to the Lake County District Attorney’s Office.”

Trouette added, “Our members were very impressed with Steve’s extensive and balanced legal and professional background, and his work in over 1,000 criminal cases including serious and violent felonies. He has the right experience and character to uphold the law, protect our community, and to make the difficult decisions entrusted to the district attorney. Steve will ensure that cases are prosecuted on the merits and that dangerous criminals are not allowed to avoid prison.”

Brown has served as a contract attorney with Lake County’s indigent defense contractor and is currently a private practice attorney at a successful law firm in Lakeport.

He is a veteran litigator with a focus on both criminal and civil law cases. Brown said he has the necessary legal experience as well as experience in many other areas that will ensure proper management of the District Attorney’s Office, including developing and drafting government policy, administering a budget, personally conducting hundreds of investigations in criminal and civil cases, and assisting countless crime victims obtain relief in both the civil and criminal courts.

A fourth-generation Lake County resident, Brown is actively involved in his community. He was appointed by the governor to serve as a director on the Lake County Fair Board.

Brown and his wife Nikole have been married for 10 years and have three children.

“I am honored to earn the support of Lakeport Police officers who put their lives on the line to keep residents safe,” stated Brown. “As our new district attorney, I want to build a stronger crime-fighting partnership with local law enforcement.”
