University of California to host Spring Walnut Field Meeting May 31

UPPER LAKE, Calif. – The University of California Cooperative Extension invites growers and others involved in the North Coast walnut industry to attend the 2018 Lake County Spring Walnut Field Meeting on Thursday, May 31.

The meeting will take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

It will begin at Valadez Orchard Shop, 10375 Elk Mountain Road in Upper Lake. Subsequent stops include nearby Suchan and Seely orchards.

Registration is free and begins at 8:30 a.m. with the program starting at 9 a.m. Refreshments will be served and water will be available throughout the morning.

Topics include the UC Walnut breeding program, new potential rootstock selection trial, Chandler/Paradox seedling and clonal trials, and lesion nematode effects and management.
