LAKEPORT, Calif. – Big Valley 4-H added a baking group to its club roster this spring and it was a hit.

Five to eight children met once a month and baked a simple dessert dish of their choice.

The dishes included brownies, cupcakes, sugar cookies to so much more.

All recipes were made from scratch and an extra batch was made to share at the club meetings.

For the final meeting the kids wanted to take a field trip to Susie Q’s.

Owners David and Christy were more than happy to accommodate the request.

Two and a half hours later the kids were overjoyed with their donuts made from scratch.

The children were eager to ask all sorts of baking questions but did get a little side tracked when a donut dough food fight broke out.

All in all it was an amazing trip and the club can’t wait to go back next summer.
