KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – Robert Hairston, CMT, a popular regional health and wellness practitioner, is returning for this month's Companion Circle at A Positive Light Center for Spiritual Awakening, 6470 Kelsey Creek Dr, Kelseyville.
The public is invited to join the social gathering slated on Monday, Aug. 20, at its new time from 7 to 9 p.m.
Hairston is a certified instructor of Primordial Sound Meditation, a practice adapted from the ancient Vedic health care tradition of India for modern day living by Deepak Chopra and David Simon.
"Primordial sounds are the basic, most essential sounds of nature and can be used to help shift one out of daily habitual ways of being into a more alert and present state," Hairston noted.
Hairston will guide participants through a Primordial Sound Meditation intending to activate three major energy centers in the body that will leave participants relaxed and energized.
Growing evidence points to the influence sounds have on the human body, including how it can support healing, reestablish the balance of vital energies, and promote good health.
Sound therapy is one of the branches of vibrational medicine which uses the vibrations of the human voice and other objects that resonate--tuning forks, gongs, crystal singing bowls, etc. – to go beyond relaxation and stimulate healing. In addition to greater feelings of well being, the clinical use of sound for health indicates positive changes in blood pressure, stress relief and immune response.
Hairston will conclude his exploration with a Unified Heart Meditation. "This meditation connects us first with our individual loving heart energy, then to our combined loving heart energy, for the purpose of blessing who or whatever comes to mind with the highest good of all," he pointed out.
A Reiki master/teacher, Hairston is also the creator of Aqua Vibrations Floating Meditation featured at Spa Solage, a five-star resort in Calistoga.
He consults with individuals and organizations, as well as offers "Pray-formances" nationwide. He studied Reiki (a healing practice that works with vital life-force energies in the body) on Mount Karuna in Japan, its place of origin.
Companion Circles are monthly gatherings for those curious about or committed to a mindfulness practice.
The circles occur on the third Monday of the month at its new time of 7 to 9 p.m. The evening includes a guided mindfulness exercise, question and answer period, social mingling and a guest presenter.
Mindfulness is an umbrella term for a large body of a popular health and wellness practices based on purposefully bringing a curious, kind and non-judgmental attention to our present moment experience.
It is a scientifically proven approach that helps reduce stress and stress-related illnesses, increase focus and attention, decrease incidences of and relapses with depression, reduce anxiety, reduce relapses in addiction, and aid with sleep and digestive disorders. It has also been shown to increase well being, life satisfaction and happiness, as well as improved social relationships.
Attendees are invited to wear comfortable clothing, bring a journal, and, optionally, a simple finger food to share. Tea and water are served.
There is a suggested donation of $10, though no one is turned away for lack of funds. A portion of proceeds from the monthly event is donated to Asian elephant rescue efforts working to free elephants in the entertainment field from harmful abuse.
