WILLOWS, Calif. – Logging trucks will be more visible along portions of FH7 from the Plaskett Meadows area as operations ramp up this week on the Smokey project timber sale.
Hauling will occur generally Monday through Friday with approximately 10 loads a day expected.
The haul route will be down the FH7 from Plaskett Meadows, southeast on the 21N17 road, back to the FH7, southeast down the 21N299 road, east on the 21N07 to the FH7 again at Alder Junction and then off the forest.
There will also be water truck traffic on the haul route. Water truck/log truck traffic usually begins in the early pre-dawn hours and may continue into the later afternoon.
There will be truck traffic signs posted along the haul route and logging activity signs around the sale area.
The public needs to be extra cautious on the 21N299/21N07 roads (commonly called Company Road) between FH7 and the end of the pavement on FH7 due to blind corners and narrow segments of road.
The Smokey project involves fuels treatments on approximately 6,500 acres, 12 miles northwest of Elk Creek.
