Many county offices now adopt Monday through Thursday schedule

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Many County offices are now open Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A full list of the affected locations and offices can be found here.
Lake County’s government has faced an unprecedented series of challenges.
Slow recovery from the Great Recession, repeated natural disasters and other factors have severely impacted the County’s budget.
As a consequence, since 2008, the county workforce has diminished by 10 percent, and the effects have been noticeable in such critical service areas as public safety, our road network and libraries.
Salaries well below those of competing entities have left departments chronically understaffed, and remaining workers manage heavy workloads.
Business as usual is no longer an option, officials said.
County Administrative Officer Carol J. Huchingson has also released a video series, discussing the decision to reduce public hours for many county offices, and explaining how the county reached this point, which can be seen above.
“County leaders and employees will be there, behind the scenes, on Fridays, identifying opportunities to increase our capacity,” said Huchingson. “As always, we will be working to empower county residents to reimagine what is possible and build a brighter future.”
