Soroptimist International of Clear Lake Club to host Oct. 11 social

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – At their planning retreat in July, members of the Clear Lake Soroptimist Club decided to begin holding evening meetings on alternating months and in locations closer to the county seat.

The first such meeting will be held on Thursday, Oct. 11, at 5:30 p.m. in Kelseyville at the Fore Family Vineyard tasting room on 3920 Main St.

Anyone interested in learning more about the Clear Lake Soroptimist Club is encouraged to attend.

“We regularly meet at noon in Clearlake but we understand noon time meetings can be a challenge for working members and those that live in Kelseyville, Lakeport and surrounding areas,” said Soroptimist President Ami Landrum. “We hope by meeting closer to the Lakeport area and, after normal working hours, we can encourage new members and make it easier for current members who live in these areas to attend our meetings,” she said.

Soroptimist International of Clear Lake is a volunteer organization dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment.

Coming up are the 2018 “Live Your Dream” awards, a program providing cash grants to women working to better their lives through additional schooling and skills training.

“This meeting is a good opportunity to learn more about this and other programs our Club sponsors,” said Live Your Dream Committee Chair Tina Scott. “It’s also an opportunity to interact with like minded individuals who make it a personal priority to empower Lake County women to achieve their full potential.”

The meeting will begin with a social at 5:30 p.m., including light refreshments and a no host bar.

The business meeting is from 6:15 to 7 p.m. Guests are encouraged to stay for the business meeting.

Cost to attend is $8, payable at the door. Please RSVP at 707-350-9869 by Oct. 9.
