LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Civil War Roundtable will meet on Monday, Oct. 1, to hear about a western brigade that fought during the war.

The group will meet beginning at 6:15 p.m. at the Country Air Properties office, 460 S. Main St., Lakeport.

The topic is the Black Hat Brigade or the Iron Brigade, the only completely western brigade to fight with the Army Of The Potomac.

This month’s speaker will be Sonoma County resident Chuck Seekamp.

Seekamp has had an interest in U.S. history, with a special interest in the Civil War since before high school.

He has belonged to the National Civil War Association for the last 25 years in both an artillery unit and a medical unit, and has given talks at numerous schools and other organizations. For the last couple of years he has been the president of the North Bay Civil War Round Table.

Seekamp will bring to life what the war was like for men who served in this famous brigade.
