LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Ladies of the Lake Quilt Guild presents Laura Fogg as the featured artist at the guild’s 17th annual Falling Leaves Quilt Show.

The show will be held in two buildings, Fritch Hall and Little Theatre, at the Lake County Fairgrounds, 401 Martin St., Lakeport.

Show hours are Saturday, Oct. 6, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 7, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Fogg is known for her free-form collage work that she has won awards for across the country.

She is featured in two documentary films, most United States quilting magazines, and a number of books and calendars.

Most of her quilts are large fabric collage landscapes. She uses a technique of layering her backing and batting, then applying background, middle ground and foreground in a collage format. A layer of tulle and pins holds everything together while free motion raw edge appliqué completes the quilting.

Fogg said, “All of my work has a three dimensional element, with surprising little things popping off the surface here and there. I like to keep it playful. My work is primarily representational, inspired by the scenes I drive and bicycle through in rural Mendocino County, where I have lived all of my adult life.”

Fogg will be present Saturday and Sunday to talk with guests and present demonstrations at the quilt show. There will be a display of student work from Fogg’s classes at the booth. Notecards will be for sale with images of her art.

More information on Fogg and her art quilts can be found at www.fogwomancreations.com.

The Falling Leaves Quilt Show will feature about 200 quilts, from minis a few inches across to king-size bedcovers executed in a variety of techniques and in all colors of the spectrum.

Other attractions will be the Country Store Boutique, a vendor mall, quilting demonstrations, themed gift baskets and an opportunity quilt.
