Authorities warn of phone scam

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – The Lake County Sheriff’s Office wants to make the public aware of a phone scam that has been making the rounds throughout the country.

Callers claim to be employees of the Apple Co., but are not.

The caller will tell people that their Apple account has been breached and attempt to obtain account information from you.

They alter the caller ID to make it look like the Apple Co. is calling.

The sheriff’s office urges the public to never share personal or account information unless you are sure you are providing it to a legitimate representative.

If you are unsure, you should call the company in question directly.
