LOWER LAKE, Calif. – Because of the federal government shutdown, February CalFresh benefits for most households will be issued early, between Jan. 16 and 20.
Households that receive their benefits early are advised to plan their food budget knowing that these benefits will be the only benefits provided through the end of February.
CalFresh households with a report due in January should please complete that process and approved benefits will be scheduled to issue Feb. 1 to 10.
New applications continue to be accepted and processed, and expedited services are available, as usual.
The Electronic Benefit Issuance, or EBT, system continues to be operational.
Unless the federal shutdown is resolved, CalFresh benefits for March may not be available. We are waiting for federal guidance and will keep the public informed.
