
CLEARLAKE, Calif. – Soroptimist International of Clear Lake is sponsoring the seventh annual Father-Daughter Dance on Saturday, Feb. 16.
The dance will take place at the Highlands Senior/Community Center, located at 3245 Bowers Ave. in Clearlake.
Doors open at 4:30 p.m. The dance is from 5 to 7 p.m.
The dance is open to girls as young as 3 and dates up to 93 years of age.
Photographs will be taken throughout the event, beginning at 4:30 p.m., when the door open.
A professional DJ will provide the music for the dance and finger food with dessert will be served.
This event provides an opportunity for young school-age girls in the community to share an evening of dancing with positive male role models.
Each daughter will receive a long-stemmed carnation and a 5-inch by 7-inch photograph with dad or role model.
Anyone who wishes to support the event is invited to make a donation of any amount to help defray costs associated with producing the event. Your donations will help Soroptimist International continue it supporting role in the community.
Soroptimist International of Clear Lake is a nonprofit entity. The Clearlake Club has contributed thousands of dollars and even more hours of personal service to the needs of Lake County.
Some of the groups benefiting from the group’s help are Freedom House, a domestic violence shelter; New Beginnings & TLC House, a drug and alcohol recovery home for women & their children; Joshua’s Project, an educational program; The Nest, a homeless shelter for pregnant women; and many more.
The Clear Lake Soroptimist Club also pays for mammograms for women in Lake County who are uninsured or underinsured; annually gives monetary awards to women who are advancing their educational or vocational training to re-enter the workforce; youth awards for high-school age students who take on volunteer projects to benefit their communities; and awards to women who make a significant impact on their communities.
Tickets are available at Lower Lake Coffee Co. at 16199 Main St. in Lower Lake and Clearlake Paper and Janitorial Supply at 14935 Olympic Drive in Clearlake.
