April 26 workshop on autism planned

LAKEPORT, Calif. – “This Autistic Life” will host a free education and awareness training on Friday, April 26.

The training will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. in Room 7050 at the Mendocino College Lake Center, 2565 Parallel Drive in Lakeport.

Lake County resident Hank Smith is a father, teacher and an author. His son, Ian Smith, is an amazing yo-yo player, juggler, and math wizard, who also happens to be autistic.

Join them to learn about the joys and challenges of living on the autistic spectrum and teaching children on the autistic spectrum.

Parents and family members of children on the spectrum, parents of children with special needs and educators are encouraged to attend.

Books will be available for purchase.

Trainings are free and made possible by the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office.
