Free tickets still available for Hike of HOPE

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – Tickets are still available for the inspirational Hike of HOPE slated for Saturday, May 11, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Kelseyville.

The event is free and open to the public.

Pre-registration is encouraged as a commemorative t-shirt, water bottle and an extra entry to the free prize drawing are available to the first 100 registrants.

The Hike of HOPE is hosted by Lake Family Resource Center California HOPE project and sponsored by LARCA Fire Relief, Adventist Health Clear Lake, North Coast Opportunities, the Sierra Club Lake Group and Robinson Rancheria Casino.

Participants will hike up to six miles round-trip on the Wright Summit Trail of Mt. Konocti, Lake County's iconic and treasured geographic landmark. The hike is considered difficult due to the 1,600-foot elevation gain in three miles. All are welcome to join in on the full hike or a portion.

Participants are encouraged to wear sturdy shoes, bring a reusable water bottle, lunch, a sunhat and sunscreen. Water and snacks will be provided. Dogs, glass, smoking, alcohol and fires are prohibited at the event.

Parking is limited so ride sharing is strongly encouraged. Additional parking is available at Mt. Vista Middle School, 5081 Konocti Road in Kelseyville and limited shuttle service will be available for the event.

The free prize drawing includes the opportunity to win a two night stay, dinner and free play package at Robinson Rancheria Casino, an annual California state park pass, and a 72-hour emergency to go kit. Hikers will have additional opportunities to receive free entries along the trail.

Participants of the family friendly hike are invited to write a vision of hope for themselves, their communities or Lake County as a whole on a 'Banner of HOPE' that will be present at the event.

"The Hike of HOPE is an opportunity for community connection and inspiration," noted Lisa Morrow, Executive Director of Lake FRC. "We chose Mt. Konocti for its all encompassing views that can help put the recent disasters into a possibly different perspective. Yes, a lot of Lake County has been impacted AND it is still an amazingly beautiful and resilient land and the community is strong."
