Lakeport Memorial Day Parade results announced

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The 2019 Annual Memorial Day Parade on Main Street in Lakeport took place at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 25.

The annual parade was produced this year by the Lake County Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Lakeport Main Street Association.

The major sponsor was SERVPRO of Lake, Mendocino and Sonoma County NE. The stage was provided courtesy of Mendo Lake Home Center & Lumber Company in Lakeport.

Paul Reading, who has been the parade announcer for many years, once again did a great job. Reading began the morning with the history of how Memorial Day celebrations began.

The parade judges this year were District 4 Supervisor Tina Scott; Lakeport City Council Member George Spurr and longtime Lakeport resident Dave Garzoli. The California State Horsemen's Association Judge for the equestrian entries was Kim Cipro of Lower Lake.

Organizers expressed gratitude to the city of Lakeport Public Works Department for its assistance with street barricades and the Lakeport Police Department for their assistance with traffic control. Thanks to all the volunteers for their hard work in organizing this parade for the community.

Special thanks to Ginny and Barry Clinton who have handled the lineup for the Lakeport Memorial Day Parade since 1991. This year they were once again assisted by Mike Gomes.

Stage decorations were provided by Panette Talia and Lorna Cruz-Higdon. After parade stage cleanup was done by Lorna and hubby Mark Higdon, Panette Talia and Melissa Fulton. The very necessary stage steps were delivered and picked up by Chamber Director Jim Magliulo and family.
