LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lake County Library’s Teen Summer Program offers free crafts, snacks, books, games and other fun for teens ages 12 to 18.

The events happen at the Lakeport Library, 1425 N. High St. on Wednesdays at 5 p.m. through Aug. 7 and on Saturdays at 2 p.m. through July 27. For more information contact the library at 707-263-8817.

Since the program started a couple of weeks ago, the teens have already made donuts and played a donut game, used free lessons from CreativeBug to sew custom shoelaces and to finger-knit easy necklaces. They have learned to use sewing machines and irons.

Amy Patton, the library’s teen program coordinator, plans to hold a LEGO build-in-a-bag contest and a short story writing contest. Teens will create their own books. The ever-popular cupcake decorating contest will return this summer. Teens will be using the library’s virtual reality set-up.
