Downed pole and utility lines cause Highway 29 traffic detour

LOWER LAKE, Calif. – The California Highway Patrol reported Saturday afternoon that a downed power pole and utility lines have resulted in a traffic detour on Highway 29.

The CHP said officers are diverting southbound traffic on Highway 29 at Spruce Grove Road North in Lower Lake and northbound traffic at Spruce Grove Road South near Hidden Valley Lake due to power lines, AT&T phone lines and a pole across the roadway.

The estimated time for a full reopening of the highway is unknown, the CHP said.

Earlier in the day, firefighters had responded to a small vegetation fire in the same area, quickly containing it, according to radio reports.
