NORTH COAST, Calif. – The Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit is conducting its rehire academy this week at the Napa County Fire Department Training Grounds on Silverado Trail.
Wednesday, July 10, is Wildland Fire Training Day, and Friday, July 12, is Structure Fire Training Day, both days will begin at 8 a.m. and conclude at 5 p.m.
Each day emphasizes specific knowledge, skills, and abilities the returning firefighters need to possess for successful completion:
– Wildland Fire Training Day: Wildland urban interface structure defense, house preparation and setting up hose lines, wildland progressive hoselay, handline construction, chainsaw operation/safety and fire shelters.
– Structure Fire Training Day: Physical training, hike, fusee, ropes, hose bundle, structure operations and modern fire attack. A live demonstration will take place of a small two-story residential home being consumed by fire allows firefighters to view the current fire behavior.
