Caltrans SATCOM 1 participates in multiagency tsunami communications drill



NORTH COAST, Calif. – California’s North Coast is one of the most tsunami prone in the United States and Caltrans is taking an active role in being prepared.

In the latest Caltrans News Flash, see how multiple agencies have partnered to ensure that communication will still flow in the event of a major natural disaster.

Caltrans used the CT SATCOM 1 communications trailer to participate alongside partnering agencies, including the National Weather Service, California and Humboldt County Offices of Emergency Services, and Civil Air Patrol, in a dry-run of the tsunami communications drill that tested sirens and emergency communications across three counties.

This News Flash is the 208th in a series of videos highlighting Caltrans’ activities that present the wide-ranging and critical work that Caltrans does to enhance California’s economy and livability.
